The US Army Garrison Japan recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of 24 new senior enlisted family housing units on campus. It was an exciting day to finally finish this significant project at Camp Zama. This is the first time ever that Camp Zama has intentionally built housing for our senior enlisted personnel. These new housing units are about 100 square feet larger than the standard size and offer four bedrooms. Among the 24 units, 23 are two-story townhouses, while the remaining unit is specifically designed for a disabled soldier's family, consisting of a one-story layout. To commemorate the deeds of the first Sergeant Major of the Army William O. Woolridge, these housing areas have been named after him. Living in these new units is a great privilege for us. It provides an opportunity for us to live among our peers and sets a standard for the junior enlisted personnel to follow.
